Student Progress & Mabel

The Faculty of Student Progress is devoted to ensuring that you have the very best experience at Skipton Girls’ High School, from the moment you join right up until your very last day.

Student Progress works closely with your teachers to track your development, and everyone knows that in order to achieve your goals you need to feel happy, secure and fulfilled. The Student Progress team will support you throughout your time at Skipton Girls’ High School to be happy, secure and fulfilled.

We will celebrate your successes and help you understand that the occasional struggle is part of the learning process and enables you to become a more successful learner and well-rounded person.

None of us teach a specific subject, so we are different from your teachers, but we all have skills and knowledge which we will share with you to enhance your learning experience.

Many of us have children of our own, and understand how difficult it can be growing up sometimes. We also know how rewarding it can be, and how funny and diverse and interesting young people are.

It would be surprising if anyone walked into our department with something we had never heard of, or with a problem we would be unable to solve, or give it our very best shot at solving.

Sometimes we can’t work instant miracles but will always work with you to find a solution, and we will never give up on you.

If you are feeling anxious we will talk with you and offer strategies to help you overcome your anxiety. If you are feeling unhappy, about anything, we will listen. If you are having a friendship issue we will do our best to help you work it out.

You will see members of the Student Progress team in your lessons, in your Gatherings, and around the school at Break and Lunchtime. Look out for Mabel…she loves to walk around school meeting students. When she gets tired she has a bed in our Office and you can come and see her there.

Student Progress is really looking forward to meeting you all in September, so have a great summer holiday and get ready to join the most fantastic school.
