Fairtrade
Welcome to the Fairtrade Friends. We are a group of students led by Mrs Brailsford, who work together to raise awareness of Fairtrade within the school and wider community.
Fairtrade Fortnight 2017 (Monday 27th February - Sunday 12 March)
These are the activities that we have planned for during the Fortnight, and links to the pages for you to upload Fairtrade tutor time selfies, and your Fairtrade game entries (if digital):
1. During the first week (Monday 27th Feb - Friday 3rd March) come along to our Fairtrade stall every lunchtime apart from Wednesday (as Year 12 go off to their work experience placements). We have all the usual goodies on sale. In addition, have a go at the "guess the number of Fairtrade mini eggs in the jar" competition. It is 20 pence per guess, or 3 guesses for 50 pence - we have a delicious Fairtrade Easter egg and other treats as the prize.
2. During the first week, also remember to bring in your change to put in the collection buckets of some of your brave teachers who have kindly volunteered to wear the Fairtrade banana suits. There are two teachers per day.
3. During the two weeks we would also like each tutor group to complete two activities, in order to win house points and Fairtrade goodies:
a) Have a Fairtrade tutor time with delicious Fairtrade goodies - it was fantastic last year to see the products brought in to school, either made or bought, and some even donated from local businesses. Play the Fairtrade board game "breaks and ladders" with the tutor group, and take a Fairtrade selfie. It is up to you which tutor time you complete this task in, as long as it is done before the deadline. THIS NEEDS TO BE UPLOADED ON TO THE CORRECT PAGE (FOLLOW THE LINKS ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE) BY THE END OF THE DAY ON FRIDAY 10TH MARCH
b) Produce a Fairtrade game - "breaks and ladders" may give you some inspiration? It can be hand made, digital, online, involve active participation.....so many ideas!!! All it needs to do is educate people about Fairtrade in the most creative way. AGAIN THIS NEEDS TO BE UPLOADED ON TO THE CORRECT PAGE ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE, OR GIVEN TO MRS BRAILSFORD BY THE END OF THE DAY ON FRIDAY 10TH MARCH
If there is anything else you do as a tutor group (quizzes, presentations etc) please let Mrs Brailsford know and let her have a copy as it is all evidence of our Fairtrade work.
